Taipei Medical University (TMU) marked an important milestone this year as the 2025 TMU Global Festival was held overseas for the first time.

Taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 14 and 15, the event brought together 300 alumni and guests from Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States. The gathering highlighted the strength of TMU’s global alumni community and the university’s expanding engagement in Southeast Asia.

The two-day program combined corporate visits, academic activities, and alumni events. On November 14, TMU visited several healthcare and biotechnology institutions led or founded by alumni, including the Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre, Sunway Medical Centre, YSP Southeast Asia Holding Bhd, and MJ Health Screening Centre. These visits showcased the contributions of TMU graduates working abroad and opened discussions on opportunities for future collaboration.
That evening, alumni and partners met at Saloma Kuala Lumpur for a networking dinner featuring Malaysian cuisine and cultural performances. Alumni from different regions shared career experiences and memories from their student years, creating a warm and lively atmosphere.

On November 15, attendees gathered for a group photo at the Petronas Twin Towers before joining a luncheon hosted by Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Tang Yong. A public health lecture followed at the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, where Hsin-Lun Lee, Director of TMU’s Proton Center, presented recent advances in proton and cell therapy to an audience that included participants traveling from other Malaysian cities.

The main program in the afternoon included remarks by TMU Vice President Pei-Shan Tsai, the renewal of TMU’s memorandum of understanding with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), and the signing of intent letters for cooperation with 31 Chinese independent high schools. TMU President Mai-Szu Wu provided updates on the university’s progress, including developments within TMU’s affiliated healthcare institutions.
Tsan-Hon Liou, Superintendent of Taipei Municipal Wanfang Hospital, also presented clinical highlights across the TMU Healthcare System in areas such as cardiovascular care, transplant medicine, intelligent healthcare, and minimally invasive surgery.

The Alumni Gala Dinner brought the two-day celebration to a close. Representatives from global alumni chapters entered carrying the TMU and alumni association flags, symbolizing the unity of the worldwide TMU community. Ray-Jade Chen, Chairman of TMU, emphasized the significance of hosting the Global Festival abroad for the first time and thanked alumni for their support.

A donor recognition segment honored contributions totaling NT$10,423,795. The group of million-dollar donors included Chairman Ray-Jade Chen; Geng-Hsin Lin, President of the TMU Alumni Association of Kaohsiung; Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Tang Yong, Founding Honorary President of the Malaysia Alumni Association; and HI-Q Marine Biotech International Ltd. Chairman Yung-Sheng Chang.
In addition, Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Tang Yong made an extra NT$1 million donation to TMU’s College of Oral Medicine, received by Dean Hsin-Hua Chou. These contributions provide strong momentum for TMU’s long-term development and talent cultivation.

Looking ahead, TMU will continue strengthening its alumni network and deepening cooperation with partners in Southeast Asia. The announcement of the 2026 Global Festival host location marked the close of this year’s celebration and reflected TMU’s commitment to building even stronger global connections in the years to come.
